Is a communications major worth it?
Here’s the honest truth:

If your goal is high earnings right after college, communications may not be your strongest path. Compare the actual career outcomes, costs, and skills you’ll need with better-fitting alternatives. A major that can work isn’t always the major most likely to meet your goals.

FAQ

Common questions

Is MajorWorth free to use?+

Major Overview is free for everyone, and the Plan page is fully visible. The Personalized Plan costs $10 once for 30 days: your personal verdict, goal-by-goal fit, a 4-year plan and goal-aware AI advice. No monthly payments or automatic renewal.

Where does the data come from?+

College Scorecard provides school and program outcomes. National major earnings and employment data come from the New York Fed using U.S. Census data; occupation wages and projections come from BLS. Measured outcomes are labeled separately from estimates and editorial assessments.

How is this different from generic AI advice?+

Your goals come first. MajorWorth considers actual major outcomes, real career demands and tradeoffs — including better-fitting alternatives. A path that could work is not necessarily the path most likely to meet your goals. No tool can guarantee your outcome.

Can I use this if I’m undecided?+

Yes. Explore majors and compare their outcomes before committing. Tell us your goals to work toward a more informed choice and a practical college plan.

Do you help with careers too?+

Yes. Explore the jobs linked to each major, their pay, outlook, requirements and day-to-day responsibilities. Ask the advisor about your career target and the steps needed to pursue it.
